Week 4
Video and blog Post 1 Isaiah 44:3 For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground;
I will pour my Spirit upon your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants.
Generation to Generation (Listening Video) - Jordan St. Cyr [Official Video]
I have been praying for my next generation - the grandbabies - to have the opportunity to know God.
In my studies the topic of the next generation has come up a lot. One of the answers to my prayers was
instead of praying that the grands be taken to church is that I take them myself. So I have begun to offer.
Two are in Christian preschool programs so I know they are getting exposure. The three-year-old told me
his favorite song was “Jesus Love Me.” Be still my heart! When you go to the early service where you
seldom see kids you can begin to think that the church isn’t going to grow to the next generation. I know
my son and his family go to the later church service, so I am sure there are many kids and families that I
just don’t see. Isn’t it easy to think that the church is no longer growing based on your perceptions?
But when I went to a Christian Concert I saw kiddos of every age worshiping and singing praises to God.
I did a quick search and found that according to AI the Christian population is growing and so are the number
of churches. I have also come to realize that I need to reflect Christ more than I do because if I do not shine
His light and if people don’t see His light in you why would they want to learn more about His light?
While both "blessing" and "prayer" both involve seeking God and His favor, a "blessing" is typically
a more direct act of expressing positive wishes or goodwill towards someone, often with a focus on
bestowing good fortune, while "prayer" is a broader act of communication with God, which can include
requests, praise, thanksgiving, and confession, going beyond simply wishing good on someone else;
essentially, a blessing can be considered a specific type of prayer focused on expressing positive
intentions towards another person and a specific situation they are undertaking, usually under God's direction.
Key points to remember:
Focus:
A blessing is often directed towards a specific person or situation, expressing positiveintentions and goodwill, while a prayer can be directed to God about a wider range of
topics, including personal needs and concerns that God provides as they are doing His will.
Action vs. Communication:
A blessing can be a simple act of speaking positive words over someone, while prayeris a more involved act of communication with God, often including requests and dialogue.
In religious practice:
In many religions, a "blessing" might be a specific words and laying of hands used toinvoke divine favor on someone, while "prayer" seeks God for general and specific needs.
Example:
Blessing: "May God bless you with good health and happiness."
Prayer: "Dear God, please guide me through this difficult time and grant me strength."
Response question: Has God provided you with blessing when you felt He was calling you to do something?
